Boston Wins at Home to Narrow Series Deficit to 3-2
|
Facing elimination, the Boston Terriers were looking for a savior. For today, at least, Bob Schar delivered.
At Atlantic Avenue Grounds, the 28-year old pitched a game for the ages to fend off the Dallas Wranglers and help the Terriers close their deficit in the League Championship Series. Schar threw a 9-inning, complete-game shutout in the 3-0 Boston win, striking out 11 and allowing 2 hits. The Terriers now trail 3-2 in the best-of-7 series.
Schar pitched a complete game for Boston. The left-hander, who calls Chicago, Illinois, his home, racked up 11 Ks, while allowing just 2 hits. Wranglers hitters could not touch his slider -- nor any other pitch, for that matter.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Schar.
The next game is set to be played for Tuesday, October 11th , 1966 at Bluff Park in Dallas.
