League Championship Series Goes the Distance, Cincinnati Prevails
|
The fans in Cincinnati are delirious, while there is little joy to be found in Chicago.
The Cincinnati Packers finished off the Chicago Traders 4-1 in the deciding game of the League Championship Series played at Union Field.
They took the series 4-3 and will now head to the World Series.
For his standout play, Cincinnati first baseman David Davalos was voted the series' Most Valuable Player.
He batted .536, drove in 7 runs and scored 4 to lead his club to victory.
"We could never really figure out how to pitch to Davalos and that doomed us," said Traders manager Larry Link. "Hats off to Cincinnati, though. That was a great series."
The Cincinnati Packers will play against the Detroit Wolverines in the next round. Detroit won their series against the Montreal Habitants 4 games to 2. The World Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
