Captains Clip Traders, 4-3, in LCS Contest
|
With starter Len Pates leading the charge, the San Diego Captains defeated the Chicago Traders, 4-3, in Game 3 of the League Championship Series. The right-hander threw 8.1 innings of 5-hit ball at San Diego Sporting Complex to help San Diego take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-7 series.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Captains grabbed the lead when Ernie Wilkins rapped a two-out single. San Diego was trailing 1-0, when Wilkins hit a 2-run single off Larry Cox to put his team in front, 2-1.
"Every team in baseball loses," Traders manager Larry Link said. "We're in the playoffs and we still have the same guys that got us here. We'll bounce back."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at San Diego Sporting Complex in San Diego.
