Seagulls Clip Captains, 4-3, in WS Contest
|
The San Francisco Seagulls got a strong game from starter Tim Stambaugh, but it was some clutch hitting that ultimately delivered the win.
The Seagulls took the 4-3 win over the San Diego Captains in Game 4 of the World Series in a 9th inning walk-off. The win capped off a fine outing for the right-handed Stambaugh. Stambaugh threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball in the win, which brought the Seagulls into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.
Matt Legrow was the walk-off hero for San Francisco. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Seagulls center fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"It was a solid team effort," said Legrow after the game.
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Mission Field in San Francisco.
