Chicago got a strong outing from Skip Crawford as the Traders defeated the San Diego Captains, 5-2, at San Diego Sporting Complex. Randy Weisenberg earned the save for Chicago, his 20th of the year. With the win, Chicago has a record of 40-32. San Diego falls to 39-34.

Chicago used the timely hitting of Ken Mays to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Traders on top, 4-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Mays said after the game.
