Bobcats Earn Clutch Win, 1-0
|
The St. Louis Explorers got a superb performance from pitcher Dick Lott, but the Cleveland Bobcats still won the game, 1-0. Lott threw 7.1 innings of 3-hit ball. Joe Clabaugh got the save, the 11th for him this season. The victory gives Cleveland a record of 41-31.
Phil Chirico, who is tied for 7th in the NBL in bases on balls with 42, had a direct impact on the outcome. Chirico contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the eighth inning to put Cleveland up, 1-0.
"Our guys are never satisfied," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.
