Batkin reaches base 5 times to Ignite Bobcats Offense
|
The Cleveland Bobcats trumped the St. Louis Explorers, 9-3, at Lakefront Stadium. Cleveland first baseman Harold Batkin was terrific. He went 1-1 with a double and 4 walks, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. Bob Yolton got the win, improving to 6-3. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 0. John Colombo, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Cleveland pinch hitter Bobby Magnuson helped the Bobcats go up, 4-2, in the bottom of the sixth inning. With the game tied, Magnuson hit a 2-run single off St. Louis pitcher Dick Lott.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Cleveland manager Daniel Mays.
