Burros Send Milwaukee Home with 9-1 Loss
|
Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Jimmy Benson, who finished 5th in the NBL in extra base hits with 60 in 1969, the Denver Burros defeated the Milwaukee Dairymen, 9-1. The winner in relief was Rick Morton. The left-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. He now owns a record of 5-4. The win has Denver at 29-44.
With Denver leading 5-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Benson came up to bat against Milwaukee pitcher Dan Valenti. Benson hit a fastball to right for a grand slam home run. His 6th home run of the season put the Burros on top, 9-0.
"Their at-bats were really impressive against us," said losing manager Brandon Dudley.
