Empires Sunk by Habitants
|
Getting an impressive start from Rich Barron, Montreal beat New York by the score of 6-2. Barron went the distance for Montreal. He gave up 2 runs on 6 hits. Montreal goes to 38-37, New York to 38-35.
Jerry Sullivan had a big 3-run home run for the Habitants in the bottom of the third inning. With Montreal leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a sinker from Jack Neenan, who led the ABL in saves with 29 in 1973, and punished it. The result was his 6th home run of the season, which put the Habitants on top, 4-0.
"I was trying to do what I do, go out there and compete," said Barron.
