The Chicago Traders beat the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 10-3, at Union Field. Chicago center fielder Fran Precourt had an outstanding performance. He belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4. Jose Mojica picked up the win, improving his season record to 9-6. He struck out 7 in 6.1 innings. The National Baseball League Western Division-leading Traders are 45-30.

Dave Lindsey, the 15th overall pick in the 1971 draft, helped out the Chicago cause in the bottom of the second inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the shortstop went 2-4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2.
