The Twin Cities Northmen cruised to a win over the Los Angeles Pobladores, 18-3, at Twin Cities Stadium. Darrell Miller led the way, going 2-for-5 for Twin Cities. Gary Forgette, the winning pitcher, is now 2-1. He went 8 innings, allowing 3 runs on 5 hits, while fanning 7 and walking 2. Twin Cities's record now stands at 36-39, placing them 5th in the American Baseball League Western Division.

The Pobladores had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Northmen going into the bottom of the eighth inning. That changed quickly when the 1963 Rookie of the Year Award winner Buddy Shingleton came to the plate. Shingleton hit a 2-run double on a 2-2 knuckle curve from Los Angeles hurler Jim Arndt. It was Shingleton's 8th double of the year.

"I feel like a little kid every time I put the uniform on," said Shingleton.
