Late Rally by Emeralds Locks Up 4-2 Win
|
The Seattle Emeralds got a strong performance from pitcher Denny Goldberg, who stymied the Dallas offense en route to a win, 4-2, at Puget Field. Dean Pepper finished the game for Seattle and earned his 3rd save. The Emeralds move to 31-45 with the win, while the Wranglers drop to 53-24.
The game was at a stalemate until catcher Ron Ferguson came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Dallas pitcher Warren Washington, he hit a 0-1 curveball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Seattle on top, 3-2.
Ferguson called the win the result of "everyone working in tandem."
