Lockner Stars for Knickerbockers in 8-3 Win
|
Good production from shortstop Rob Lockner helped the New York Knickerbockers topple the Cleveland Bobcats, 8-3. Lockner was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Knickerbockers. Danny Abril, the winner, improved to 1-1. He held Cleveland to 3 runs on 4 hits over 8.2 innings, while racking up 7 strikeouts. New York has a 5-game win streak, while Cleveland has lost 3 in a row.
In the bottom of the sixth, New York first baseman Francisco Chavez put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 11th home run of the year. Cleveland pitcher Ivan Rogue served it up. Just like that, the Knickerbockers were ahead, 6-3.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Lockner.
