The New York Knickerbockers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Jack Forbes, who kept Pittsburgh hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Knickerbockers win at Knickerbocker Stadium. New York sits in third place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division at 41-36.

The Knickerbockers got a big at-bat from center fielder Ron Freeman. For the game, Freeman went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave New York a 3-0 lead.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" New York manager Timothy Widholm said.
