The first-place Chicago Traders took on the Los Angeles Blockbusters in front of a spirited crowd.
The Chicago Traders pinned a convincing loss on the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 9-1, at Union Field. Ken Frederick was a main factor in the win. He hit 2 home runs, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 4 for Chicago. Skip Crawford picked up the win with 6 innings of work. He allowed no runs on 5 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 6. On the season, he is now 8-4.
Chicago center fielder Fran Precourt contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two down, he hit a curveball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 90th hit of the season and put the Traders ahead, 2-0.
"What a lackluster performance," lamented losing manager John Trausch.
Chicago is now 47-30, 3 games up in the National Baseball League Western Division.
