It might have been a rain-shorted game, but Explorers fans didn't seem to mind as long as their team got the win.

Boosted by the 2-hit performance of Tom Guinn, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1968 draft, the St. Louis Explorers defeated the Denver Burros, 3-1. The win gives St. Louis a season record of 45-34.

Guinn had a timely hit for St. Louis in the top of the sixth. With St. Louis trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-0 changeup into a 3-run home run. It was his 5th home run of the season, making it 3-1, St. Louis.

"We busted our tails," said Denver manager Clark Anderson. "But we came up short."
