Wolverines Win Thriller, 1-0
|
In a low-scoring affair between the Detroit Wolverines and the Boston Terriers, pitcher Larry Black was the difference between victory and defeat. The Detroit right-hander earned accolades in the 1-0 Wolverines win. Detroit improves to 49-27 with the win. They lead their division by 4½ games.
Pete Morrison was the walk-off hero for Detroit. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Wolverines pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Boston skipper Tom Lacher.
