Bluebirds Sneak Past Bobcats, 3-2
The Brooklyn Bluebirds did just enough to secure a 3-2 victory over the Cleveland Bobcats at Flatbush Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Billy Gibbs, who captured player of the game honors. Gibbs went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 4. His record improves to 7-8. Gary Kirby earned his 12th save in 15 chances.

Brooklyn took a 3-2 lead on Tony Ortiz's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Cleveland pitcher Chuck Hathaway in the bottom of the eighth.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Gibbs.

The 4th-place Bobcats have lost 7 straight games.
