Eagles Absorb 2-1 Home Loss
|
Philadelphia Quakers pitcher Juan Ramirez was in fine form, leading his team past the Washington Eagles, 2-1. The winner was Ramirez. He threw 8.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Mark Campbell. Darrell Klug earned the save for Philadelphia, his 16th of the year.
Randy Golick, who finished 5th in the NBL in wins above replacement with 6.4 in 1964, had a direct impact on the outcome. Golick contributed a 2-run single in the top of the sixth inning to put Philadelphia up, 2-0.
Golick attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."
The defeat makes Washington 36-42.
