The Chicago Traders earned a close win over the San Diego Captains, thanks in part to Bobby Peters. The Chicago left-hander, who finished 3rd in the NBL in strikeouts with 174 in 1973, played a key role in the 2-1 victory. Chicago goes to 36-42, San Diego to 37-41.
Walt McCord had a direct impact on the outcome. McCord contributed a run-scoring hit-by-pitch in the top of the seventh inning to put Chicago up, 2-1.
"It was a solid team effort," Peters said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
