Eagles Win, 3-2, at Brooklyn
|
Washington picked up a win at Flatbush Park, toppling the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 3-2. Pitcher Arnold Jarry was one of the reasons the Eagles triumphed. In 8 innings, Jarry surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Charlie Tovar converted his 10th save in 15 tries.
Efrain Corrales, the 30-year old catcher , had a direct impact on the outcome. Corrales contributed a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put Washington up, 3-2.
"We just didn't score enough runs to win," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker.
At 37-42, Washington is in 5th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
