Knickerbockers Stymied by Quakers, Jarry
|
The umbrellas came out during the Philadelphia-New York contest at Knickerbocker Stadium.
The Philadelphia Quakers beat the New York Knickerbockers, 6-0. Philadelphia pitcher and Eau Claire, Wisconsin, native Arnold Jarry led the way. The loss makes New York 4-5.
Jarry, who dominated for Philadelphia, earned the victory to move to 1-1. He was in control the whole game, scattering 5 hits over 8.1 innings, while striking out 4. New York batters could never bunch up enough hits to produce a rally.
"I went out and just tried to do my job," said Jarry.
