Jon Pierce kept the Baltimore Lords hitters from doing much damage at Queens Field.

Baltimore could only muster 4 hits and draw 1 walk against the left-handed Pierce, who controlled them throughout the game. New York won the contest, 3-0. Pierce added 4 strikeouts in his complete-game effort.

"I don't know if I was on or if they were off today," Pierce told reporters after the shutout win. "But whatever it was, I hope it happens again next time."
