Los Angeles turned a fine outing from starter Larry Messenger into a victory over the Chicago Traders at Blockbuster Stadium. The final score was 5-2. Messenger got the win, improving to 6-5. He gave up 6 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. He allowed 2 runs. With the win over Chicago, the Blockbusters improved to 39-42.
Bill May, who is tied for 6th in the NBL in doubles with 20, helped out the Los Angeles cause in the bottom of the first inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the third baseman was 3 for 4 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs.
