Knickerbockers Win at Pittsburgh, 8-2
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The New York Knickerbockers topped the Pittsburgh Industrials, 8-2, in National Baseball League action at Allegheny Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of New York pitcher Bob Jackson. Jackson got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 5 hits and walked 5 over 8 innings. Jackson allowed 2 runs.
New York relied on the hitting of Luis Benitez to pick up the win. The left fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Knickerbockers on top, 3-0. For the game, Benitez had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
