Bulls Win, 7-4, at Washington
|
Conditions were not ideal but Kansas City and Washington were able to put their game in the books.
Washington got a terrific game from center fielder Ed Laub. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Kansas City, 7-4. Laub was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Charlie Hickman got the win, improving to 1-1. He worked 8.2 innings, giving up 4 runs on 7 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 4.
Kansas City relied on the hitting of Larry Tipton to pick up the win. The center fielder clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Bulls on top, 3-0. For the game, Tipton had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Kansas City manager DD Martin.
Kansas City goes to 4-4.
