Atlanta Gets 3-1 Win
|
The Generals grabbed a win, 3-1, at Bluff Park, overcoming a fine effort from Dallas pitcher Steve Coomes. Coomes went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Ron Bargiel earned the win for Atlanta. He lasted 6.1 innings, allowing 1 run on 3 hits, while striking out 1. With the win, he raised his record to 1-3. The setback makes Dallas 41-40.
Atlanta used a well-timed hit by Roberto Palacios to capture the win. The second baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Generals ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Whenever we hold the other team to one run," said Generals manager Philipe Yazzie, "I like our chances."
