Drillers Get Past Los Angeles for 5-4 Win
|
The Houston Drillers had to overcome a fine effort from Los Angeles pitcher Carlos Novoa to win, 5-4, at San Vicente Park. Novoa went 7.2 innings and allowed 1 run. Houston reliever Larry Clarke picked up the win, upping his record to 2-2. Shane Frassrand absorbed the loss. The loss makes Los Angeles 40-39.
Jim Johnson came through with a big-time hit for Houston. The shortstop smacked a grand slam home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 5-2. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We took home the win," said Johnson. "What's not to like?"
