Friend Hits 2 home runs in Hurons Win
The Toronto Hurons beat the Montreal Habitants by a score of 7-6. Toronto shortstop Vern Friend deserved the lion's share of the credit. Friend was 4 for 4 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice for the Hurons. The save went to Bob LeVangie, his 4th this season. The Hurons raised their record to 30-50.

Friend had a game-changing home run in the bottom of the seventh. On a 1-1 fastball from Rich Barron, he banged a 2-run home run to left, giving the Hurons a 7-6 lead. It was the 9th home run of the year for Friend.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Friend.
