Eager fans turned out for a matchup between the Detroit Wolverines and New York Empires.

Detroit starter Juan Rodriguez ran into little resistance from New York hitters, as his team cruised to victory, 10-2. With the win, Detroit pushed its record to 42-37.

Early in the game, right fielder Pete Morrison had a bases-clearing double for Detroit. It was his 15th double of the season and put the Wolverines on top, 3-0.

"Things went our way," said Morrison.
