Getting an impressive start from Vern Gould, Dallas beat Los Angeles by the score of 3-2. Charlie Sokol collected save number 2. The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Dallas.
Had Pat Simmons not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Simmons hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Wranglers.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Gould. "Successful pitchers do it."
