The Houston Drillers defeated the Detroit Wolverines, 8-4, at Wolverine Field. Jackie Frost, who finished 2nd in the ABL in extra base hits with 70 in 1971, was a standout performer for Houston. His 2 hits included 1 single and 1 double -- this in addition to the 2 runs he scored and 2 he knocked in. Bill Switzer got the win, improving to 6-4. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 4 and walking 6. The win makes Houston 41-42.

Mark Sisson, who led the ABL in home runs with 36 in 1972, helped out the Houston cause in the top of the third inning with a 2-run single. For the game, the center fielder was 1 for 5. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.

"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling confident after that win," said Frost.
