Empires Take Nail-Biter Over Hurons
|
In a low-scoring affair between the New York Empires and the Toronto Hurons, pitcher Danilo Molina was the difference between victory and defeat. The New York left-hander earned accolades in the 3-1 Empires win. New York reliever Bryant Stark got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Don LeoGrande was tagged with the loss. The triumph puts New York at 44-39 for the season.
New York won the game in the bottom of the tenth inning. With no outs and Don LeoGrande on the mound for Toronto, catcher Randy Reed hit a dramatic 2-run home run, bringing Empires fans to their feet.
"There's no quit in this team," said Empires manager John Harris.
