Captains Win, Olsen 4-for-5

The San Diego Captains beat the Kansas City Bulls, 8-4, at Independence Field. The Captains got a fine performance from center fielder Jerry Olsen, who was 4-5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. Jeff Ferguson, the winner, is now 5-9. He struck out 3 and walked 3 over 5 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 7 hits. The win for the Captains lifted their record to 43-41.
In the top of the 4th, San Diego took the lead on a 2-run single by Jose Torres. At the time, the Captains were trailing 2-1, but Torres's hit with two outs against Kansas City pitcher Tom Mitchell put them in front, 3-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Olsen told the San Diego Citizen. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
