Generals Take Down Terriers, 2-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Atlanta Generals and the Boston Terriers, George Palmer, who was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1965 draft, proved to be the difference. The Atlanta left-hander earned props for his performance in the 2-1 Generals win. With this game in the books, Atlanta is 41-43, Boston 33-50.
Atlanta used the clutch hitting of Ed Mika to snag the win. The pinch hitter drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Generals ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a crucial one.
"George showed what he's made of," said Atlanta manager Philipe Yazzie.
