Explorers Shut Out Bobcats, 3-0
|
The St. Louis Explorers got a magnificent effort from pitcher Marty Clark, who kept Cleveland hitters in check en route to a 3-0 Explorers win at Corps of Discovery Stadium. Clark, the winner, moves to 5-5. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 3 walks. Ramon Sandoval picked up his 2nd save of the season.
The Explorers had to work out of trouble in the top of the ninth. The score was 3-0, St. Louis, with no one out. Cleveland, with runners on 1st and 2nd, was mounting a threat. Steve Garcia dug in at the plate, but on a 0-2 cutter, he hit into a double play.
The 4th-place Bobcats have dropped 5 straight games.
