Seagulls Win at Dallas, 3-1
|
In a low-scoring contest between the San Francisco Seagulls and the Dallas Wranglers, 24-year old right-handed pitcher Ray Brooks proved to be the difference. The San Francisco right-hander earned props for his performance in the 3-1 Seagulls win. Arnie Keilman, who finished 2nd in the NBL in saves with 28 in 1973, nailed down the save. San Francisco is now 44-41, Dallas 43-42.
There was more than one reason the Seagulls beat the Wranglers, but Brooks's big at-bat in the top of the fourth was an important factor. He staked his team to a 2-1 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"Ray's a gamer," said San Francisco manager Al Borie. "Glad he's on our side."
