The New York Empires defeated the Atlanta Generals, 8-1, in part because of first baseman Lowell Bickle. Bickle went 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Empires. The American Baseball League Eastern Division-leading Empires are 50-32.

In the top of the third, Bickle had one of his most important at-bats: a run-scoring single off Gary Ovitt that staked the Empires to a 2-1 lead.
