Bulls Handed 3-1 Loss by San Diego
|
The first-place San Diego Captains took on the Kansas City Bulls in front of a spirited crowd.
The San Diego Captains earned a close win over the Kansas City Bulls, thanks in part to Ken Craig. The San Diego right-hander played a key role in the 3-1 victory. The winning pitcher was Craig, now 1-0. He tossed 6 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 3 and fanning 9.
Ron Byrd, who is tied for 10th in the NBL in triples with 5, helped out the San Diego cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring hit-by-pitch. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"We busted our tails," said Kansas City manager DD Martin. "But we came up short."
San Diego improves to 50-34 with the win. They lead their division by 5½ games.
