Win Goes to Terriers in Tight Contest
In the 7-5 Boston win over Detroit, the impact of Bob Madaras was substantial. Madaras was 3-5 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Boston reliever Sergio Cisneros snagged the win, upping his record to 1-1. Warren Washington shouldered the loss. Alex Alonso wrapped it up, recording his 2nd save.

Ralph King drove in one run for Boston. The 11-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the top of the eighth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Warren Washington. It was his 2nd RBI of the season.

In postgame comments, Madaras told the Boston Daily: "Do people still doubt I give 100 percent?"

With the win, Boston lifts its record to 3-5.
