The Pittsburgh Industrials topped the New York Knickerbockers, 3-2, in 10 innings at Allegheny Field. The game was highlighted by the performance of Pittsburgh pitcher Gene Steinhauer. The win belonged to Denny Grissinger in relief. His record improves to 3-2. Bob James took the loss for New York. Pittsburgh is now 50-36, 7 games up in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.

The decisive blow was delivered by Chip Berry in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a solo home run off 25-year old left-handed pitcher Bob James to win the game for Pittsburgh. The home crowd went nuts.

"I like the grit of this ballclub," Berry said.
