Hurons Take Down Habitants, 1-0
|
The Montreal Habitants and Toronto Hurons provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Toronto Hurons, behind a great outing from Joe Scott, who finished 2nd in the ABL in innings pitched with 263.2 in 1969, defeated the Montreal Habitants, 1-0, at Dominion Field. Ben Immel came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 1.2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Toronto third baseman Jeff McPhearson, facing Mark Weeks, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Hurons the 1-0 win.
"The team always comes first," Scott told a reporter while responding to autograph requests. "Our fans like to come out to see a win, so I'm happy to do what I can to give them that."
The win puts Toronto at 5-4.
