Dairymen Win at Los Angeles, 7-4
|
A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Milwaukee Dairymen and Los Angeles Blockbusters.
The Milwaukee Dairymen defeated the Los Angeles Blockbusters, 7-4, in National Baseball League action at Blockbuster Stadium. Milwaukee pitcher John Gannon had a standout performance. Milwaukee is now 35-52, while Los Angeles is 41-45.
Angel Gutierrez had a big 2-run home run for the Dairymen in the top of the first inning. With Milwaukee leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he sized up a curveball from Billy Duprey, who finished 2nd in the NBL in strikeouts with 185 in 1970, and punished it. The result was his 4th home run of the season, which put the Dairymen on top, 3-0.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Gannon. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
