Eagles Suffer One-Run Loss at Kansas City
|
Kansas City beat Washington on the strength of starting pitcher Waldo Hardaway's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 2-1. Hardaway yielded 1 run over 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 2 hits, walked 3, and struck out 1. His record improves to 1-1. With the win, Kansas City goes to 4-6.
Hank Cummings, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Kansas City cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the catcher was 1-2.
"The only difference is executing pitches and not executing pitches," said Hardaway. "When you don't execute, you get beat. When you execute, you usually give your team a chance to win."
