Drillers Trip Emeralds, 5-4
|
Houston and Seattle took Mother Nature's best shot and still managed to complete their ballgame.
The Houston Drillers topped the Seattle Emeralds, 5-4, with third baseman Wade Fields playing a big role. Fields went 2-2 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI for the Drillers in the win. The 4th-place Drillers have won 6 in a row.
Houston used a clutch at-bat from Mark Sisson to capture the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Drillers ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Houston manager Nate Nilsson.
