William Matz, who is tied for 5th in the ABL in wins with 10, was locked in. The left-hander led the Detroit Wolverines to a 6-3 win against the Chicago Hawks at Hyde Park Stadium. Matz picked up the win for Detroit, going 6.2 innings. He gave up 2 runs on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 10-7. The last-place Hawks have lost 5 consecutive games.

Detroit grabbed the momentum in the top of the fifth, when Matz hit a 2-run double off Bruce Elsner. His 1st double of the season put the Wolverines out in front, 2-0.

"William gave us a heck of an effort," said Detroit manager Alex Wobbema.
