Eagles Earn 6-3 Home Win
|
The Washington Eagles beat the Brooklyn Bluebirds, 6-3, at Monument Field. The win was due in part to left fielder Alan Cassill, who was 2 for 3 with 2 singles and a walk. He scored 3 times. Pat Sullivan, the winner, is now 5-5. He struck out 1 and walked 1 over 6.2 innings, while allowing 3 runs on 9 hits. Richie Kingery recorded the save. In save chances, he's now 14 for 17.
With no one out in the bottom of the seventh, Jeff Lawler had a game-changing hit. The Eagles center fielder slammed a 2-run single off Mike Gregory, making the score 6-3, Washington.
In postgame comments to the Washington Herald, Lawler said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Today's win puts Washington at 37-51, while Brooklyn falls to 43-44.
