New York Beats Detroit, 3-1
|
The New York Empires used a great performance from Jack Neenan, who led the ABL in saves with 29 last year, to beat the Detroit Wolverines, 3-1, at Queens Field. With the victory, the Empires upped their record to 49-41.
Dave Matuzak had a critical at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for New York. He came through with a 2-run single to put New York in front, 2-1.
Matuzak said his team "played with focus."
