New York Wastes Great Game by Fry
New York right fielder Robin Fry was sensational. He was 2-3 with 2 home runs and 2 walks, while adding 5 RBI and scoring twice, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Seattle beat the Empires, 8-7. Fry was named the player of the game despite the loss. Dan Mills was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 3 of 5 save opportunities. The first-place Emeralds, at 71-53, now lead their division by 2 games.

Seattle used the clutch hitting of Jose Juarez to capture the win. The left fielder drilled a run-scoring double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Emeralds the lead, 5-4. For the game, Juarez had 2 singles and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Juarez said.
