The Brooklyn Bluebirds used a great performance from Dave Gaultney, who is tied for 6th in the NBL with a 2.18 ERA, to beat the Washington Eagles, 3-0, at Monument Field. Gaultney yielded no runs over 7.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 11-3. Bob Hill was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 22 of 26 save opportunities.

With Brooklyn leading 1-0 in the top of the seventh, Gaultney hit a run-scoring single off Washington hurler Larry Andrade. It was the 11th hit of the season for Gaultney and put his team ahead, 2-0.

"Dave mixed and matched," said Brooklyn manager John Meeker.

Brooklyn, at 44-45, occupies 4th place in the National Baseball League Eastern Division.
