Wolverines Get 5-2 Win Versus New York
|
Detroit got a strong outing from Jim Bryant as the Wolverines defeated the New York Empires, 5-2, at Queens Field. The winner was Bryant. He threw 8.1 innings of 7-hit ball. The loser was Nate Frampton. Alfredo Morales was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 2 of 5 save opportunities.
It could have been a different outcome for Detroit, had it not been for Bob Gilley, the 25-year old catcher . Gilley contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put Detroit up, 3-1.
"I was just taking it batter by batter, just enjoying the moment," said Bryant.
Detroit is now 47-41. New York is 49-42.
