Knickerbockers Win at Home, 5-1
|
The New York Knickerbockers defeated the Cleveland Bobcats, 5-1, at Knickerbocker Stadium. Bob Marston was a standout performer for New York. His 3 hits included 1 single and 2 doubles -- this in addition to the 1 run he scored and 3 he knocked in. With the win, New York raised its record to 47-44.
With New York leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Marston hit a splitter from Roger Scherf for a 2-run double. It was his 18th double of the season and put the Knickerbockers ahead, 4-1.
New York manager Timothy Widholm praised his team's "businesslike approach."
