Seagulls Beat Visiting Northmen, 3-1
|
Pitching was the name of the game in a tight contest between the San Francisco Seagulls and the Twin Cities Northmen. San Francisco won it, 3-1. San Francisco starter Reggie Wright was in command. Wright, now 11-5, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Chuck Porter notched his 16th save in 17 chances.
The Seagulls got a gift in the bottom of the second inning, when they were leading 1-0. With one out and the bases loaded, Reggie Wright reached on an error by the 3B, driving in 1 run. It made the score 2-0, San Francisco.
"The key at this level is throwing strike one," said Wright. "Successful pitchers do it."
The win for the Seagulls lifted their record to 46-42.
